Our school was named after Árpád Vezér, the chief of the Hungarians who started to found the present-day Hungarian homeland in 895. Last year our school celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Our school is a three-storey building and there are 27 classrooms. There are special classrooms for music, art, chemistry, foreign languages, ICT and there is a big gymnasium. There are 2 schoolyards, a playground, a football pitch, a technics and a computer room, a library and a snack bar.

The school bell is very special. Instead of common ringing there is music at the beginning and at the end of the lessons.

About 600 pupils study in our school and there are 50 teachers. There are 3 classes: a, b and c on each grade.  We don’t have to wear a uniform every day but there is a school tie with the logo of our school and the students must wear it just on special school events and competitions. There is a school T-shirt too which students can wear during the PE lessons.

SECOND LANGUAGE LEARNING

In our school the level of the foreign language education is high. Students start learning the chosen language in the 2nd term of the 1st class. The chosen language can be English or German. From the 5th class students can learn French too, also 2 lessons a week.

PROGRAMMES

There are several sports activities and study circles after the lessons such as drama, school choir, maths, acrobatics, basketball, lego robot and art.

Our school takes part in the “Civic Talent Care Programme”. The chosen pupils take part in special activities once a week provided by this programme.

Our school takes part in the “Happy School Programme”. As part of this programme classes can have “happiness lessons” and “stress management lessons” but these special lessons aren’t compulsory. These ones are organized by the school psychologist.

Every 2nd year the school staff organizes the “Student Ball”.

Our school has got a talent show called “Stars of Árpád” every year. During the talent show every class performs at least once.

Students of the 7th grade can take part in the “No borders” government project if they want. With the help of it the students can travel to those villages/towns abroad which used to be on the territory of Hungary.

At least once a year there is a class trip. Every grade goes to different places.

After the school year the school organizes camps for the students.
