Kääpa Põhikool
The first documents of schooling in Kääpa village date back to 1835 so Kääpa School is 184 years old. The current schoolhouse is, of course, a bit younger. It was built in 1938. In 2002 the historical building was renovated and got a new modern annex including classrooms, a canteen and a full size gym. Today there are 142 students studying in 9 classes and 22 teachers are doing their best to inspire children and guide them to their future life and career. We are proud of our extra-curricular activities, international partnerships and projects. We have several after school hobby classes which include sports (especially volleyball), art, natural sciences, acting, cooking, wood work, handicraft etc.
The basic compulsory educational system in Estonia is the nine-year comprehensive school (Estonian põhikool, "basic school"). Following graduation from basic school, there are a number of possibilities for continuation of the educational path. There is a possibility to acquire general secondary education at upper secondary school, vocational secondary education at some vocational education institution or simply an occupation.
