La marca España

Spain is a country located in the Southern Europe with more than five thousand square kilometres of land. Almost fifty million people currently live in Spain.

Spain is a country that offers a vast and exciting cultural, natural and gastronomic heritage with many historical cities and monuments, and because of that, Spain has become the country with third largest number of UNESCO Wold Heritage sites.

Spain has 17 regions called autonomus communities, each one with its own regional government. One of this region, located at South-East corner of the Iberian Peninsula, is the Region of Murcia where the IES Sabina Mora can be found.

The Region of Murcia covers 11.313 km² is bordered by Andalucia, the Comunidad Valenciana and Castilla-La Mancha with a population of 1.4 million of people. With two seas, the Mediterranean sea and the Mar Menor, and more than 300 days of sunlight, the Region of Murcia makes a good example of Mediterran climate type with mild winter and warm summers.

Roldán belongs to the council of Torre Pacheco, a large inland town; closed to the Mediterrean Sea and 33 kilometres from the regional capital. Its most significant hill is 'Cabezo Gordo', where a number of native ecosystems of local flora and fauna can be found, especially birds. The hill is also home to an important archaeological find known as 'Sima de las Palomas' internationally recognized for the discovery of hominid remains, tools and animal fossils.
